Book Releases For March 2020

“It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it."

- Oscar Wilde

Somehow we’re already approaching the third month of the year, and it is coming round far too quickly for my likely. Too many books to read in such little time, as well as so much revision to do in a time frame that’s growing smaller and smaller. This is a list of my highly anticipated young adult book releases in March 2020. Ink in the Blood by Kim Smejkal

What do you do when everything you thought you knew, turns out to be a lie? Celia Sand and Anya Burtoni are inklings for the religion of Profeta, which means they use magic to tattoo the followers of this region. But after ten years, Celia and Anya learn the truth: Profeta is built on lies, the tattoos are designed to strip away individual freedom, and the religious temple is actually a barbaric prison. Their escape comes in the form of a travelling theater troupe, the Rabble Mob, where they use their skill for performance rather than propaganda. But it isn't long before they realise they are being followed by The Devine they never believed in, who is determined to spread her influence through the infamous stage of the Rabble Mob.

Publication Date: 1st March

Rather than running away to the circus, why not run away to the theater and take up a new mask to leave your old life behind?

The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller

Alessandra has a plan to gain power and never be overlooked again:

1. Woo the Shadow King

2. Marry him

3. Kill him and take his kingdom for herself

No one knows the true power the Shadow King holds, but Alessandra knows what she deserves and will stop at nothing to gain power. However, she's not the only one who wants him dead, and so she finds herself protecting his life to preserve him until he makes her Queen. But she must hold on tightly to her heart, because what could be a better fit for a vicious, lethal queen than a Shadow King?

Publication Date: 1st March

Strength, specifically female strength, and morally grey characters and two things that will always draw me in and tempt me. Definitely keeping my eye out for this one.

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

This is the first in a new Cassandra Clare series, focusing on the Shadowhunters of Edwardian London. When the Blackthorns and Carstairs come to London, alongside a horrendous plague accompanying a demon, James and Lucie Herondale‘s (the children of Tessa Grey and Will Herondale) idyll lives are quickly interrupted. Set to explore the family histories and dynamic we know well, while contemplating love, power and the price of being a hero, the life of a Shadowhunter is certainly never dull.

Publication Date: 3rd March

I love anything Cassandra Clare, and I cannot wait to get my hands on this book and catapult myself back into the Shadowhunter world again.

Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales

Ollie and Will are meant to be a summer romance, no strings attached, but due to Ollie’s aunt's deteriorating health his family remain in North Carolina, giving him the chance to hope for something more. However, Ollie is shocked to find Will, his sweet, affectionate summer fling who was comfortable in his identity, acting completely different at school. Ollie’s arrival also shocked Will, threatening his status of being one of the basketball boys. But the age old question is posed, do you risk everything for love, even if risking everything means losing everyone else you know? Can one person give you the courage to be entirely yourself?

Publication Date: 5th March

This is the LGBTQ+ Grease retelling I didn’t know I wanted so badly until now.

Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn

Harley has always dreamed of being a trapeze artist, and with her parents owning a circus you would think it would be easy. But her parents are insisting she goes to school. After a fight, Harley leaves home and joins the rival travelling circus to her families, Maison du Mystère. There Harley learns the power of hard work and the brilliance and brutality of her dream, but the people she has betrayed and the family she turned her back on are not going to stay at the back of her mind forever. Some things demand to be felt and reconciled, including whether following your dreams is worth the betrayal of your family.

Date: 12th March

Acrobatics, a travelling circus And family dilemmas. If you’re anything like me, then I bet this sounds right up your alley.

That‘s the top recommendations I have found for upcoming March releases. Let me know if there are any this I haven’t mentioned, and follow me on Instagram and Goodreads to keep up with what I’m currently reading.

Enjoy it all
