'We lose ourselves in books. We find ourselves there too.'

Looking at the YA books being released this year, I've realised that 2020 definitely seems like the year that we are going to be getting a lot of great new releases. So here are a few that I am excited for in February.

The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper

The Gravity of Us follows seventeen-year-old Cal, a social media journalist who is used to online attention. But as a result of his father getting a job with NASA, Cal is catapulted into a whole new life, having to move from Brooklyn to Houston; and dealing with a whole new type of media attention that he is not used to. However, in the midst of all of this unknown, Cal meets Leon, who he forms a connection with, his heart beginning to understand the beat of love.

When secrets begin to be uncovered about the program, Cal is stuck trying to find a way to reveal to truth, without hurting the people he holds dear.

I have high hopes for this, especially the LGBTQ+ representation and am excited that this is an own voices novel. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy.

The Stars We Steal by Alexa Donne

Princess Leonie Kolburg, or Leo for short, is the heir to a faded European spaceship, but her focus is looking for a bachelor to save her family from financial ruin. Sometimes, all it takes is a familiar face returning to change everything. When Elliot, Leo’s childhood friend and first love, arrives home the captain of a successful whiskey ship Leo comes face to face with the one that got away. Now, Elliot seems like the hot topic of engagement season and he also appears determined to make Leo’s life as hard as possible. But can Leo really resist falling for her first love?

Definitely looking forward to exploring the idea of propriety of marriage versus true passion and love. The classic choice between mind and heart; the debate of what you think to be right, and what the heart knows to be true.

Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon

A modern day Beauty and the Beast retelling.

Princess Jaya Rao places family above all else, and when the Emerson clan - with whom her family have a centuries old feud - target her sister, Jaya swears to unleash revenge.

It just so happens that she is the attend St. Rosetta’s International Academy with Grey Emerson. Her plan: make him fall in love with her and break his heart. However, something about this brooding, blue eyed boy draws Jaya in.

Grey knows he's doomed once he reaches his eighteenth birthday, leading him to live an isolated existence. But all that changes when Jaya bursts into his life. However, the feeling that she is hiding something won't lift from his shoulders. Could it possibly have anything to do with the rose-shaped ruby pendant around her neck?

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite fairy tales, and if you combine that with a book set in a boarding school, mixing in some star-crossed lovers then I'm sold.

This Train is Being Held by Ismée Williams

Private school student Isabelle Warren meets Dominican-American Alex Rosario on the 1 train, and from them on out the two of them begin grow closer. They uncover truths about one another, Isabelle learning all about Alex’s father who desires for him to be a contender for the major leagues even though Alex wants to go to college to become a writer; and Alex learning of Isabelle’s mother, a woman with a prejudice against Latino men, who pressures her daughter to stay away from him. But, when life turns upside down for Isabelle as her father loses his job and her older brother struggles with his mental health, her relationship with Alex hits a roadblock. All that’s left is for the 1 train and a sprinkling of fate to bring them together when they need it most.

Publication Date: 24th Feb

Sounds like a cute romance with underlining tones that will aim straight for my heart. The best kind of romances always pack a powerful punch

Let me know any releases you're looking forward to in February this year. We're definitely looking at an amazing year for book releases.

Your stage it waiting.
